10 Questions with – Jason Lane

Jason Lane

Answering the questions this time is our U10s Green coach, Jason.

Proper Dad joke in this one!

Q1). How long have you been coaching for?

A = Started coaching 4 years ago with Lydiard Millicent Jnrs U11’s. Stopped for a few years then returned to coaching June this year.

Q2). What made you start coaching?

A = After playing at quite a high standard through my youth, I wanted to give something back to the grass roots game.

Q3). How do you prepare for match day?

A = I prepare the same every game, I start with making a coffee to bring with me. I arrive at the venue and either set up or start setting up warm ups. I then meet the players with first pumps and go through the motions of making sure that the instructions are clear for the boys to follow.

Q4). What team do you support?

A = Chelsea since the age of 7 hours old (had a shirt put on me after I was born, cheers gramps) however I am a Swindon Town season ticket holder and travel to away games as often as possible.

Q5). Favourite player and why (past or present)?

A = I have 2. Zinedine Zidane (Zizou) the guy was phenomenal. Gianfranco Zola, I was lucky enough to be at the 1997 Cup Winners Cup Final. His goal sent us all into euphoria.

Q6). Best drill to do in training?

A = I do not like the word drill as it sounds so military. The best practices are the ones that make the players think quickly as well as in game scenario’s

Q7). Messi or Ronaldo?

A = Messi

Q8). If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

A = Ben Garner. The chance to manage at a professional club just for a day would be an experience of a lifetime.

Q9). Best thing about FC Abbey Meads is…..

A = I have been here probably the shortest time, however I do get the feel that all of the coaches have 1 single goal in common and that is for the boys (and girls) to enjoy playing the game that they love.

Q10). Tell us your best joke 🙂

A = I used to be indecisive, but now I’m not so sure.
