Congratulations to Megan Young, captain of our U15 girls team, who has been selected to join the Oxford United U16 RTC Shadow Squad. Megan will benefit from top quality academy coaching and being part of an RTC, while still being involved with FC Abbey Meads for this season.
U15 Girls manager, Peter Beasley, said – “Megan is into her 3rd season with us and has come on leaps and bounds always putting 100% into training and matches, missing only a handful of training sessions in the time she has been with us showing her commitment to her development. She really deserves this opportunity and is testament to what you can achieve when you put your mind to it. Since joining us, she has played on the wing before moving inside, to now playing as one of the leagues most dangerous strikers through practicing and training daily when possible at home. Megan encapsulates exactly how to push yourself and progress by always looking to learn through questioning and practice“.
As a club we push all of our players to do the best they can and with women’s football growing at the club we will work with any player who wishes to play for fun or to grow and develop.
