With the 2025/26 Season upon us, we’re sharing some reviews of the season just completed. Our U7 Purple Team.
Part 1:
Written by: Charlie Gunn
Overview of the Season:
It’s been a great season, our team have really grown and developed together. We started the season with a lot of heavy losses but our team just took it on the chin and carried on next week, they clearly play for the love of the sport – which is what it’s all about! One stand out moment has to be a comment made by one of our players during that time ‘oh yay, we didn’t lose by much’ – positivity even when we were consistently defeated. When we moved down a league things started to improve score wise, but our team remained the same, playing for the love of it, encouraging each other, celebrating wins together, not being bothered by a loss and looking forward to the next week.
Every game was a joy to watch, I just love being a football mum and seeing my son having the best time. He scored some cracking goals, but I know his stand out moment would be saving a penalty (my very own Martinez, though he would argue to be Allison).
The coach is my husband, so I can’t comment too much there, however I know the other parents think he’s great, and at home he’s constantly talking about what he’ll set up for training and you can see the pride when a player successfully actions what they’ve been working on. Our assistant coach is also brilliant, there’s not many 17 year olds who would give up their weekend mornings to coach! He’s great with the children, encouraging and clearly passionate about the sport.
The parents are also great, we’ve a really nice team and great atmosphere of support all round. The club is also brilliant, and I don’t hesitate to recommend them to others – it’s about giving everyone a chance to be involved in a great sport, rather than hand selecting ‘talent’ like other clubs clearly do.

Standout Moment of the Season:
Our last game – you can see how much the team has developed in both skill and teamwork. Together they’re a joy to watch and I cannot wait to see what they bring to next season!
Shoutout To:
Every single person involved with our team – it’s really a football family. Full of support and good vibes 🙂

Overview of the Season:
We have really enjoyed training and watching each player take what they have learnt onto the pitch on a Sunday. Each and every one of them have developed each week and it has been wonderful to watch. It’s lovely to see such a team spirit develop over the last year and to watch strong friendships grow from such an early age. What a journey the players have been on the last year.
Standout Moment of the Season:
Our first win is my favourite memory, the team deserved it and their little faces was just magic. And Craig’s too! It’s not about winning but we had been losing by many goals each week so this moment meant everything to the kids.
There was a match just after this where a goal was scored from the goalie in 3 passes, the passes were beautiful and it was what they had been working on at training!

Shoutout To:
A special mention to our coaches Craig and Taz. They have been so good with the kids and the respect the kids have for them is evident.
Craig should be very proud of how much the kids have improved, this is largely down to him. He has made my boy love football even more.
Craig should be commended for his approach to coaching, always positive, encouraging and directive in getting the team to think for themselves. It’s because of this the team has progressed so much.
Charlie, Craig’s wife has to have a mention for her fundraising and for everything she does for the team. And little Arthur who comes to every game and training session despite the weather!
